SEAN BONES IS LIVING ON EASY STREET

Brooklyn's Sean Bones had the idea for the reggae-inspired album, Rings, when he wanted to begin a swimsuit line with his girlfriend. They just decided one day that they would design swimsuits and make a reggae album. He says "I think when you've lived in New York City a long time, everybody dreams of living somewhere else for awhile. Some where warmer. I think that's why we started making bathing suits and reggae music." The swimsuits idea didn't work out so well, but I'm glad to say the album did.
When you listen to Rings you automatic sense Sean Bones' love for authentic reggae music like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. So, he's mastered modern reggae, but the album isn't the only connection he has to the Caribbeans. The singer also starred in his first movie, Wah Do Dem, which was released last month. The film was mostly shot in Jamaica which just reconfirmed the vision he had for the record. He says "...it was funny, The Jamaicans thought it was hilarious that all of the Americans were all listening to Jamaican music from the '60s and '70s, you know this sort of blues reggae. All of the reggae they listened to was from the '80s and forward. They're influenced by completely different stuff."
See if you're into what this white boy is jamming -- Sean Bones' Rings was released today on Frenchkiss records.
